Tax rates

Set your tax rates once. Every booking gets them right.

Add your tax rates, choose the locations they apply at, and FullClass adds them at checkout. Two taxes at one location are simply added together, rates can go down to thousandths of a percent, and each booking keeps a record of exactly what it was charged.

Best for: businesses that charge sales tax, VAT, GST, QST or HST at one or more locations and don't want to work it out by hand.

What it solves

Tax you set up once and stop worrying about.

Working out tax by hand is where mistakes creep in: the wrong rate at one location, a rounding slip on 9.975%, or a region where two taxes apply but only one gets added. With your rates in one place, the right amount is charged on every order and nobody has to do the math.

Give each rate a name, like VAT, GST or QST, and its exact percentage, then choose which locations it applies at. At checkout, every active rate for the event's location is added to the order, and the customer sees the totals before they pay.

Prices can also include VAT, the usual way in Europe. The price you list is what the customer pays, and the VAT inside it is worked out and shown on the receipt. Studios in Europe start with this setting turned on.

What you get

How the tax is worked out.

  • Exact rates. Enter rates down to thousandths of a percent, like 9.975%, so the math matches your tax authority.
  • Two taxes add up, they don't compound. When 5% and 7% both apply, each is charged on the order subtotal, for a flat 12%. Neither is charged on top of the other.
  • Set per location. A rate is only charged on bookings at the locations you assign it to.
  • Tax-free events. Mark an event as tax-exempt and no tax is added to its bookings, even when its location has active rates.
  • Tax comes after discounts. Tax is worked out on what's left after any discount, so customers are taxed on what they actually pay.
  • Past bookings never change. The tax name, rate and amount are saved on each booking when it's bought, so changing a rate later never alters past orders.
  • Old rates retire safely. Switch a rate off when it no longer applies. A rate that's been charged on a booking is kept and switched off, not deleted.
How it works

From your rates to the customer's total.

1

Add your rates

Give each one a name and its exact percentage, down to thousandths of a percent.

2

Assign them to locations

Choose where each rate applies, so the right taxes are charged in the right place.

3

Tax goes on at checkout

Every active rate for the event's location is added to the order. Rates add together rather than compound, and the customer sees the totals before paying.

4

It's saved on the booking

The rate and amount charged stay on the booking, so your records are still right even if rates change later.

Set it up once.

Add your rates and assign them to your locations. Every payment then picks up the right tax, and the totals show up in your reports.
